Sassa Bienne Afro Caribbean and Cajun Restaurant | Our Story

From a Liberian Kitchen to Marlton, NJ

Sassa Bienne started in a family kitchen in Liberia and found its home in South Jersey — where West African, Caribbean, Cajun, and soul food traditions come together on one joyful table. This is Julius's story, and now it's yours too.
His Mother's Kitchen

His Mother's Kitchen

Founder Julius K. Dossen grew up in Liberia watching his mother turn simple ingredients into something that felt like an entire culture on a plate. Those aromas — the spices, the slow-cooked richness — never left him.

Julius carried that heritage into a family food truck, then made the leap to a brick-and-mortar home inside Marlton's Meetinghouse Square. It's an unlikely spot for a restaurant this soulful — which makes finding it feel like a discovery.

A Menu Across the Diaspora

The menu maps the African diaspora's culinary journey — Jollof Rice, Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Escovitch Fish, Cajun soul food, and vegan specialties all under one roof. Every Wednesday, the kitchen goes all-in for Jerk Wednesday.
